In the XIX Centaury, there were a lot of riches houses and important families. But the shops moved to the north; and the families too. Now, there are a lot of companies and luxury boutiques.
In the Fifth Avenue there is the Grand Army Plaza, the Bergdorf Goodman (a clothes shop since 1894), the General Motors Building (an skyscraper), the Trump Tower (indoor Gallery), the Cartier (a church, built in 1905), St. patrick's Cathedral (a Gothic Temple), the NY Public Library, the Saks Fifth Avenue (the best store in the city) and the Lord and Taylor (a stone's lion. It's in the Fifth Avenue since 1914).
